Deans Place Hotel Festive Workshops

  • 6th December 2017

What a fabulous venue Deans Place Hotel in Alfriston is to hold floral workshops in...Their Garden Suite became my home for the day as I ran a total of three workshops; one in the morning before lunch, one in the afternoon after lunch and one in the early evening after cream tea. How extremely civilised!

Fifteen floral enthusiasts turned up for the morning session and soon got engrossed in creating wired festive wreaths. A delicious two course lunch followed and they then went on their merry ways with their lovely creations.

Before long, fourteen ladies, by now sated from lunch, eagerly left the restaurant and spent a creative afternoon working with blue spruce, conifer, yew, apple and orange slices as well as other festive accessories to embellish their wired wreaths with. Jane and Trudi even dressed themselves in festive outfits in honour of the occasion. And two hours later they all went on their merry ways very happy and proud with their efforts.

And following a delicious afternoon cream tea, five more floral enthusiasts sat down for an early evening session creating their festive wreaths, and once again loved the tactile experience.

All agreed - so many of them first time arrangers - that flower arranging truly is such a relaxing and stimulating hobby; the hectic world around us soon gets totally forgotten as the creative juices start flowing - what more could you wish for to get the festive season started...?

My thanks go to Samantha Mills and Jo Burchell at the hotel who helped organise it all and who also found time to join in one of the session! Very much looking forward to returning to this fab venue in the future...
