I am a newly qualified NAFAS Area Demonstrator

  • 25th January 2018

Today I had my NAFAS Area Demonstrator test in Henfield Hall with adjudicators Alan Beattie and Pat Dibben; the former having flown over from Ireland to be there.

I was lucky to get my ordeal (!) over and done with early as I was allocated the 10.15am slot. I had twenty minutes to create two designs from my portfolio which is entitled 'Come Fly with Me'.

My chosen two countries were Holland and Morocco and I am relieved to tell you that I completed both before the buzzer sounded.

After my demonstration I had to go into a room and do a Latin plant name identification test. There were a total of 15 vases filled with a plethora of foliages and I had to identify ten of these. Very chuffed to say that I scored 10 out of 10!

Later in the evening, the Sussex Area Demonstrator Representative, Gaenor Circus, called me to say that the judges had passed me; as you can imagine my relief was immense. After 18 months of training I was finally ready and qualified to hit the road in my new role as an ambassador for NAFAS.

I am so looking forward to meeting flower club members near and far; if you wish to find out where I might be, then please check under the Demonstrations button on my website as all is revealed there... I look forward to seeing you somewhere soon and to sharing my floral passion with you...
