New Visions Workshop with Wendy Howden

Wendy Howden teaches Abstract Floral Art of the highest order and having been invited as a guest to the New Visions Workshop, my excitement knew no bounds! But boy was I nervous too... this was unchartered territory for me...

She sent five abstract photographs to each delegate beforehand and asked us to choose one to work with. I decided to choose the one, which to me, looked the most like a close up of a sun dial!

Working with Eucomis comosa leaves as well as their tiny pretty flowers, Anthurium 'Pistache' and sprayed tagliatelle, I was very pleased with my finished design. Wendy confirmed I hadn't achieved a total Abstract but called it Contemporary Abstract... And she said if I had entered a competition with it, I would have achieved a First. I was gobsmacked to say the least!

She spent nearly two hours critiquing the sixteen designs we had all created and her feedback and suggestions were simply incredible. I learnt so much!

And having now been invited to become a member of this illustrious group really was the icing on my floral day...
