The Covent Garden Academy of Flowers

I was invited by Principal Gillian Wheeler to attend an all day Christmas workshop at her gorgeous shop and school in Covent Garden; my attendance and floral efforts will in due course become a feature for Flora International and will appear in their November/December 2016 issue.

We started our day by making a festive garland - a first for me - and it was wonderful to learn so many valuable tips from not only Gillian but her floral partner Madeleine too. By the time I had finished wiring, my creation was five feet long and looked and smelled gorgeous!

The afternoon session saw us - Wendy, Rosalind, Isabelle, Judith and Chloe - make a beautiful large table centre with a pillar candle in the centre.

Getting these large creations home on the train afterwards was a real challenge but I am proud to say that both remained intact and soon filled my house with festive prettiness!

Such an inspiring day and I can't wait to return soon again...
