Chichester Cathedral Festival of Flowers 2022

"Life in All Its Fullness" was the title for this ever popular biennial flower festival, and this year's was particular special as the pandemic had wreaked so much havoc for several years meaning that despite months of planning by so many designers, the festival couldn't take place during the summer of 2020 as originally scheduled... still, we eventually got there and it was utterly fabulous to be able to finally get inside the glorious setting of this special cathedral and to get florally creative!

Festival designer Lyn Robinson tasked myself and my floral partner, Jan Crouch, with creating two large scale, floriferous pedestal arrangements to either side of the entrance and we decided to work in a colour palette consisting of purples, lilacs and yellow hues.

As always, the flowers came from South East Flowers and my what a fabulous medley was delivered to us on that Monday! We had Eremurus, Gladiolus, Dianthus, roses, Lisianthus, Michelmas daisies, Alchemilla mollis, Craspedia, Delphinium, Molucella, Panicum and Amaranthus as well as a glorious medley of foliage.

Because the pedestals had to be so incredibly tall, we placed wire structures in the centre which we clad in foliage before tiered shelving was added for the floral foam to sit on. Thankfully the cathedral maintenance team was on hand to help with lifting and securing!

It took hours and hours to create our vision, but we were incredibly proud and delighted with what we achieved and were so very pleased to learn, via many friends and family who visited the festival, how much people enjoyed seeing them and how much they liked our chosen flowers and colours. Result!
