Christmas Tree Festival at St Margaret's Church, Rottingdean

I was delighted to take part in this inaugural event at the lovely St Margaret's Church in Rottingdean between 5-7 December 2014.

The church looked beautiful with a total of thirty six trees decked out in festive fare, and it was all for a good cause too what with proceeds from entrance fees going to the Martlets Hospice. Hundreds of people turned up to be awed.

My 6 foot Nordic Spruce tree - Florissima! - to the left of the altar was decorated with stunning red Freedom roses, red gerbera and red spray roses as well as gold sprayed wax flowers. To ensure the flowers stayed fresh, I placed them in mini glass vases and test tubes.

I also made baubles using dried rose petals, stachys leaves, dried rose buds, gold sprayed hydrangeas and honesty inner petals.

The star on top has red spray roses glued onto it, and as an alternative to tinsel, I threaded cranberries onto wire.

Festive hand decorated presents under the tree, a few cinnamon bundles and a robin perched on a branch, completed the scene.

Bellissima!

** A few weeks after the event, we were told that a rather impressive £5,842 was raised for the Martlets Hospice. Bellissima again! **
