Workshop at Steyning Flower Club

I was asked to run the July workshop at Steyning Flower Club for twenty two keen flower arrangers.

The design they had to create was a rose 'bowl' made out of ten or twenty long stemmed roses with Midollino sticks, raffia, flexi grass or ribbon (or a combination of several) woven into the stems in a basket weave effect. Once completed, we placed some sisal inside the "bowl" and then filled the nest with chocolates, cakes or fruit.

Quite an intricate and tricky design to master but I have to say that all the ladies did splendidly and all their bowls looked stupendous. There were a few sighs and mutterings during the installation but by the end of the evening everyone had a sense of achievement having created something rather unique.

Thank you ladies for being such quick learners and for making the evening so very enjoyable!

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for stepping in last night at the flower club. I think you handled it and us very well.

If you remember, you were talking to me last night and wondering what other flowers we could use; well what do you think about carnations... Do you think they would work?

(the answer is yes, Yvonne!!)
