Julie and Isaac's Wedding

On a gloriously sunny, and unseasonally warm, April 1st (where the temperature rose to about 18 degrees Celsius!), Julie and Isaac tied the knot at Brighton Town Hall, and this happy occasion was then followed by a reception at The Old Market in Hove.

I was delighted when the couple told me that their favourite flower was a tulip, and that they wanted these to feature florally in their day. How seasonally apt! Besides, I am rather partial to tulips in springtime...

The colour scheme was purple and cream and we thus settled on the glorious Tulipa 'Purple Prince' as well as the frilly Tulipa 'Super Parrot' with its cream and lime green tones. As a surprise, I also included Tulipa 'Purple Prince Parrot' which went down a storm!

Julie's bouquet featured both purple and cream tulips, with some dainty wax flowers to soften the overall effect, while her three bridesmaids carried smaller bouquets in cream and green.

The various buttonholes for dads, bestmen and groomsmen were made up of tulips as well as wax flowers while the honoured mums and step mum had wrist corsages in cream shades made with Ranunculus as well as Hyacinthus pips. It is so nice when you can introduce something different to a wedding and Julie's mum, who had never seen a floral wrist corsage before, was totally made up with hers!

For the reception and its long trestle tables, softly lit fishbowls with swirling tulips on a bed of water retaining beads looked so lovely and, as always is the case, a Floranina heart became part of the proceedings too.

The stunning naked cake was given a very minimal floral treatment and, amazingly, the very natural basket I had made for the cake table complemented perfectly the wooden slice cake stand. And then that was it; all ready for a super day for a super couple.

Here's wishing Julie and Isaac all the very best in their exciting onward journey as husband and wife...

Hi Nina ;-)

I can't thank you enough for what you did for our wedding and we just wanted to say thank you for the tulip vase too - it already has tulips in it!

Love from both of us xxxxxx
