Vicki-Jayne & Michael's Wedding

A wedding in Scotland in early December - in East Ayrshire to be precise - was on the cards just as Storm Desmond hit the north west coast of England, and also just as my lungs battled with bronchitis and my throat with tonsillitis.

Still... the show must go on...

I prepared the bridal bouquet as well as the five bridesmaids' ones in the comfort of my own home before setting off early on the Saturday morning. It was very wet and wild by the time we were in the vicinity of the Lakes (sadly this part of our country got hit very badly with severe flooding just a few hours later) and we arrived in New Cumnock - at the Lochside House Hotel and Spa - just before light faded.

The colour theme for this Sunday wedding was cream 'Avalanche' roses with blue Eryngium, white Lisianthus, white wax flowers, white Veronica, green Hypericum berries, dried lavender, dried Nigella seed heads and silvery Eucalyptus. I was also asked to decorate a white Manzanita tree with hand-made floral baubles as well as producing all the buttonholes of course. Oh and a few blooms amongst the white wedding cupcakes too...

The hotel had confirmed that they would be providing the table centres but with the wedding less than twelve hours away, we discovered that they had nothing floral for the top table nor for the ceremony one. Panic not; Floranina's thinking cap was firmly on although no floral foam was to be had as it was 7pm by now... So?!?! Not a problem; I came up with the idea of using iced fruit cakes as my bases instead and they worked a treat and smelled nice to boot! And as is always the norm, a Floranina heart featured in the proceedings too with many of the flowers from the bridal bouquet in evidence.

I am delighted to report that the new Mr and Mrs Bridges were very pleased with my floral creations, and Vicki-Jayne's dad Billy was apparently very smitten with the floral cakes at the top table... while Vicki-Jayne's little niece and flower girl Lily and Michael's little nephew Hayden were both very smitten with the confetti strewn on the ceremony floor! So cute...

Considering what the weather had been like the day before (and reverted back to the day after), the wedding day was sunny and bright - what a fantastic start for this very special couple. Floranina wish them all the very best...

I would like to thank Nina Tucknott at http://www.floranina.co.uk/ for the stunning flowers she arranged for my winter wedding in Scotland!

Nina came all the way from Brighton and Hove to Scotland for my special day and I was so thrilled with the results!

You made my day, Nina.

Thank you! x x x
