A week's holiday on the beautiful island of Madeira

So many people have always told me how lush and green Madeira is and how many flowers there are; and having now finally been there I can confirm that they are right!

There is lush vegetation everywhere and lots of amazing flowers to gawp at. My favourite trips were to the Monte Palace Gardens and also to the Botanical ones; so much to see and marvel at.

I use Phoenix palms a lot in my designs and was rather tickled to stand next to many of these versatile palms in the Botanical Gardens.

If ever you get the chance to visit, do ensure you book a Yellow Bus Trip; this double decker takes you to Camara de Lobos which is a pretty little fishing village very popular with Winston Churchill back in the day. And from there, you hop on a coach and take the most amazing roller coaster ride up, up and up until you reach Cabo Girao; Europe's highest cliff top with an amazing skywalk; a glass viewing platform which towers 580m above sea level. Quite a view from there!

And if you can, buy some Strelizia at the airport and bring them back home so that your fabulous holiday lasts just that little bit longer...
