Lolly stick arrangement

After a long break due to other commitments, I was finally able to attend another excellent workshop run by Carolynne 'Cally' Meer. It was so lovely to meet up with my regular floral friends - Mandy, Jenni, Jean, Carol, Christine and Celia - and to get stuck into some serious floral business.

This month's challenge was to make a bowl using two raised metal wreaths, some raffia as well as some wooden lolly sticks. A time consuming design which looked ever so effective - this could be used as a table arrangement, a door hanging one or even as a modern floral sculpture.

I painted my lolly sticks duck egg blue and for flowers chose to work with tall yellow roses and asparagus fern arranged in a spiral form with Cotinus leaves and both green and black elderberries at the base of the bowl.

A versatile designer bowl which will be used again and again!
