RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is undoubtedly the most important flower show in the world with thousands and thousands of enthusiasts flocking from near and far to see not only spectacular show gardens and pristine flowers but also to gawp at incredible floral designs. 

On the Monday, the world's press attend to photograph all the splendour before the Queen and other members of thd Royal family attend in the afternoon. 

As Editor of the BFA magazine I was very proud to see the incredible skills 16 florists from all over the UK showcased for one to be crowned the RHS Florist of the Year 2019 come Tuesday morning. 

Their brief was to create a floral crown to honour the 200th birthday of Queen Victoria on 24 May and I have to say the standard was very high indeed making it a mammoth task for the four judges who deliberated for hours before they had their winner. 

The honour went to an overwhelmed Helen Pannitt for her glorious crown which I am sure Queen Victoria would have been delighted to wear. 

In fact Her Majesty attended the stand during press day and was fascinated to see all the intricate work these talented florists had undertaken.
