Claire and Chris

Claire and Chris wanted a relaxed fun filled wedding day for their family and friends, featuring an intimate ceremony at Shoreham airport which was followed by a huge barbecue, cooling Pimms as well as an energetic barn dance.

Their chosen reception venue - The Barn at Southwick Community Centre - featured a garden which was dotted with bales of hay for informal seating, and they also hired an ice cream van to provide the dessert for later in the evening.

I dressed the tables inside the barn with red and white gingham table cloths, and topped these with wild flower table decorations as well as vanilla scented candles. A couple of topiary trees completed the scene, not to mention a few cringe worthy baby pictures of the happy couple.

I also placed a white painted screen as a backdrop for the top table and decorated this by weaving white lilies and foliage into the trellis.

The pièce de résistance, was a large foam heart - filled to the brim with fresh strawberries - which I secured to the centre of the screen. It all looked rather yummy... In fact, by the end of the evening, bridesmaid Chloe had eaten almost every single strawberry!!

As this was a barn dance themed wedding, I added two white cowboy hats to Claire and Chris’ chairs to raise a smile or two! And yes, they obliged by wearing them during most of their dancing...

"We are delighted to be able to offer a testimonial about the table & hall decorations you provided for our August wedding. As with all weddings, there has to be the customary 'cringe worthy' element of the baby photos which you kindly blew up on to canvases and hung on the walls for all to see - thanx! We wanted our wedding to be a fun filled day for family & friends, and having a huge BBQ and barn dance set the scene for the afternoon & evening reception. The gingham tablecloths & cream candles created a barn dance feel & the white cowboy hats on our chairs were a great idea. The table decorations made from wild flowers and foliage from your own garden were a true florist's creation, and the woven foliage & lilies on the wooden screen behind us were heaven scent! However, without doubt, the most talked about decoration was the huge foam heart shape filled to the brim with strawberries that hung just behind us. The smell was wonderful & our bridesmaid Chloe was quite happy munching her way through the whole lot! Thank you for all your efforts in making our day such a special event."
